    Picture of Ashley Ashley is an advocate for women and girls to live healthy and fulfilling lives. The healthygirlsblog was created to be a source of information and a place to discuss issues in the world of advocacy and development.

    Ashley has a degree in communication and broadcast journalism and was awarded Outstanding Graduate in Broadcast Journalism in 2008. She is the recipient of a Kansas Association of Broadcasters student award for hard news, Elliott School of Journalism merit award and Society of Professional Journalists scholarship recipient.

    Ashley has worked in television for ABC affiliate KAKE-TV in Wichita, Kansas and Cox Television in Washington, D.C. and in public relations and event planning for Wichita State University.

    Ashley began working in community health as a volunteer for Positive Directions, Inc. a non-profit supporting those living with HIV/AIDS in Wichita, Kansas. Ashley has previously worked as a Development Associate and continues to support FAIR Fund, a Washington, D.C. based non-profit preventing human trafficking in the lives of youth, especially girls, around the world. At FAIR Fund, Ashley planned major and minor fundraising events, wrote organization correspondence and press releases, and managed social media and the FAIR Fund website.

    Ashley will be working in Israel for a women’s organization in fall 2010. She is a Peace Corps nominee and will be working in community development in Central or South America starting in February 2011.
